Wednesday Morning Coffee:: Steve St. Pierre

Today is going to be a bit of a goat rodeo. My company was acquired by another huge company in what is now the biggest software merger... OF ALL TIME. While people at my company are excited about this, to me it makes little difference. End result, we have some serious hyper meetings to make sure everyone is happy about becoming a smaller cog in a bigger wheel.

So, I only have time for a quick morning post, so I figured I'd point you all to a folky singer from Vancouver (by way of Ottawa). Steve St. Pierre is certainly a grass roots artist, scraping the funds to record and really working hard to find his sound. After releasing his debut record Play Alive, he shifted his style and is working towards becoming a better musician. Look forward to more SSP news on the hill over the next few months.

He's early in the process, but here's an indication of the direction he's going.

[MP3]:: Blister in the Sun (Violent Femmes cover)
It's actually a pretty inspired take on the track, considering the fact the original is pretty well a classic. His sincere, slow strum and delicate vocals really works and is well worth a listen.
