Future Watch:: Two Hours Traffic

We (or at least I) tend to use the phrase "hill favourite" on a fairly regular basis, and its usually in reference to a band or artist we cover a lot, for one reason or another. But I'm not sure there's any other band I can think of that fits that phrase better than Two Hours Traffic. I mean, I actually went to an actual record store (the legendary, and now defunct, Sam The Record Man on Barrington St. here in Halifax no less) and bought their EP Isolator so I could review it.

That EP review was in '06, so I'll consider myself one of the earliest blog-types to hop on the bandwagon of these young P.E.Islanders (hell, half the blogs out there now likely weren't even around then), but if you're familiar with Canadian indie music at all, you are no doubt aware that THT's sophomore release, Little Jabs, was spectacularly well-received and garnered them a Polaris nomination. Not surprising if you checked my fawning review for that album, but you need not take only my word for it, as the Ack has also long been been a THT fan, as this rather long interview from '07 ably shows (I like the last question where Ack slyly tries to get Alec to call me a moron, nice try friend).

We've now established that the hill has a substantial jones for THT's musical bones, and so, news of their new album Territory is more than welcome news at HH headquarters. If you feel like we do, I'd suggest you head over to the store at THT's brand spanking new website and get to pre-ordering. Pre-ordering Territory entitles you to 2 exclusive bonus songs, a limited edition exclusive T-shirt and your choice of the album in either CD, Digital or Vinyl format. Far from shabby is what that deal is. The album is sounding like it's going to be worth the fuss too, if the title track and the video below for happiness Burns are any indication. The pure pop splendor THT is known for is certainly there, but they seem have added a 90's college rock edge to their sound, which certainly sounds good to me. So get hyped for the album, and get ready to see THT this fall as they tour the bejebus out of Canada in September and October:
