News:: All Wound Up's 1 Year Anniversary

I'm going to start this off with a bit of sad news. The Halifax music scene lost an enthusiastic young proponent over the weekend with the untimely death of Alex Fountain, who was only 20 years old. I didn't know Alex, but as a member of the Halifax Pop Explosion staff, he helped co-ordinate our Inbreds-led showcase last year. Based on the reactions I've been reading to the news of his death, Alex was a very positive young man with an unconditional love of music, and his death is tremendously sad.

I hope Alex's friends were able to spend some time together last night at the Pavillion show, but fror those unable to make it, you'll likely find a number of folks who knew Alex at tonight's All Wound Up One Year Anniversary Party being held at Gus'. The details from All Wound Up's main man Mark Black:

The goal has been to create an inclusive music night that isn't so much about "djs", but just about people sharing some of their favourite punk records. So far there have been more than 30 djs, including members of Off Minor, Dog Day, Statues, the White Wires, The Stolen Minks, North of America and the the Memories Attack. As well as writers and personalities from the Coast, CKDU, the CBC and the Chronicle Herald.

All Wound Up's first anniversary is being celebrated on Tuesday, August 25th at Gus's Pub with the Rocket Reducers from Welland, ON (ex members of the Vapids) and Ultra Violence Ray from Sudbury, ON. The usual assortment of door prizes will be available; pitchers of beer, records, The Price is Right board game, Death Star beachballs and Gossip Girl board games.
