Tonight @ Gus’:: METZ

As we get closer and closer to Sappyfest, Halifax reaps the rewards of proximity. Not including huge shows like Holy Fuck, Jim Guthrie, and The Sadies, we also get to latch onto the lineup and see smaller acts like Apollo Ghost - note, hell f*cking yeah - that might not make the trip otherwise.

One such act is a trio of noise from Toronto, Metz. Behind the strength of some Drive Like Jehu inspired 7″, Alex, Chris & Hayden are going to test the limits of the PAs at Gus’ and hopefully shatter the fishbowl that segregates the VLT crowd from the North End music scene. Hopefully it can draw a repeat performance from the Kestrel’s / Cousins show when one dude staggered out with his winnings and asked, “what’s up with the music guys… is it AWESOME?”

The show also features Horses, Orphan Choir and Lullabye Arkestra and is probably the best thing you’ll do on a Wednesday that doesn’t involve Wing Night, JJ Rossy’s and a flux capacitor. Metz are also going to be selling their brand new 7″ - the sludge heavy Negative Space - so you would be wise to show up and keep an extra fiver in your back pocket.
