Friday night and you ain’t got nobody. Well, you got some money since you just got paid. Why not fill your evening with the charming sounds of London’s, Olenka Krakus (especially since her lovers won’t be around either).

Olenka’s latest LP, And Now We Sing, was one of my favorites from last year and the way she and her band brought those personal stories to life was breathtaking and intimate, but somehow surprisingly invigorating. A quick scan of the net shows that our opinion mirrored critics from across Canada, and already the album is generating Polaris buzz.

I know when you scan the schedule for IDOW you might not see those “big names” that grabbed your attention in past years, but this is one of the acts that prove the effort the good folks at IDOW put into the selection process. Olenka’s talent far exceeds simple name recognition. It’s only a matter of time until Krakus and her band are playing bigger rooms for more fans so the chance to hear these gems stripped down to the bare bones is a special one.
