News:: New Track from TOR

I had a feeling you needed something to cap off your Friday, and so here it is: a beautiful new track from Vancouver producer TOR. I’ll let him fill you in on the details:

My sound is influenced by artists such as Bonobo, early DJ shadow, Emancipator and Kno of Cunninlynguists, and Aperture is a melodic, sample based track with rhodes, clarinet, dirty drums and pitched up french vocals.

The hill keeners amongst you might remember TOR from such posts as our debut edition of What’s This, A Party? where we posted his remix/mash The CN Tower Can Work It Out which mixed Owen Pallet’s The CN Tower Belongs to The Dead with the vocals from Q-Tip’s Work It Out. That song did some rather large business around here, and when you combine that with his amazing Illinoize Sufjan + hip hop remix album, it’s easy to see why our door is always open to TOR.

And I’m glad it is, because the other day he sent us a new track, the aforementioned Aperature, which is a sneak peek at the full-length album of original material TOR has been working. It’s a great tune, alternating between haunting and thumping throughout, and with plenty of lovely musical texture. If his whole album sounds like this, I’ll be bumping the hell out of it - check it for yourself.
