It’s Thursday, so I know you’ve likely been wondering where our Video Hits post is so you can get your (semi)weekly hit of CDN video goodness, and although it may be late, it’s here nonetheless. And true to our normal standard, it’s rather eclectic if I do say so myself, so let’s do this.
I’ve mentioned this a number of times (including while posting the first video from his new album, Handshakes & Middle Fingers), but there are very few contemporary CDN musicians that have pumped out quality videos as consistently as Enfield’s Classified. The heartstring-plucking clip for the David Myles-featuring “The Day Doesn’t Die” is no different and only the most cynical viewer (i.e. a good portion of the internet) won’t feel at least a twinge of empathy or recognition while viewing it.
If you’re looking for another well done video, you can check the debut video from Waterloo’s SolarSolar for “I Can’t Find You.” We previously posted a Martin Tielli cover from the duo, but the combination of the duo’s dreamy electronic pop, and the video’s well executed pairing of curious kids & animation is a winner.
If you’re looking for a more subdued video, you can try the simple seashore scene featured in the video for “Dis” from Montreal’s The Hidden Words. The Ack was rather impressed by the initial effort from this new project of former Unicorn Alden Penner, and this simple video for the floating french folk melodies of Dis indicates that their new album (coming this fall), could be very impressive.
Enjoy the videos.
