Moka Only - Martian Xmas 2011

The Holiday Season is hectic. You know this. I know this. And, thankfully, Moka Only knows this. That’s why, for many years running (7 perhaps? I’m not sure), the most prolific man in hip hop has created his annual Martian Xmas album to help us chillax to his unique brand of off the wall smoothness. As if that wasn’t charitable enough, Moke is playing Santa this year, and he, along with the folks from Feelin’ Music, is bringing you Martian Xmas 2011 for free.

Not a bad little gift I’d say, 16 tracks that feature Moka’s signature mix of boom bappery and Santa-suit-soft textures. The production’s great as usual, and the songs range from fairly straight ahead hip hop songs like The Money and the Hammer, to instrumental numbers like Trippin Trees, and the whole thing is weaved together with vocal bits like Moka’s musings on Xmas or Christmas Vacation snippets . Add in Moka’s relaxed vocal musings on everything under the sun, and you’ve got a listen that’s a perfect counterpoint for the hurly-burly this time of year can bring.

So thanks to Moka Only for baking us some Xmas goodies once again. Now go grab yourself a copy of the album, you deserve it after all.
